11 November 1918 is the day that World War I, The War To End All Wars came to an end. It is a day to commemorate the sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces who were killed during war, and was created by King George V as a National Day of Remembrance on 7 November 1919. And in most Provinces of Canada is a General Holiday. The mission of The Royal Canadian Legion is "to serve veterans and their dependants, to promote Remembrance, and to act in the service of Canada and its communities." We as an organization remember our fallen comrades at every meeting, at every Legion gathering, with these words.
They shall grow not old, as we who are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We Will Remember Them.
Remembrance Day shall remain and be reverently observed at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of each year by us and our successors with two minutes of silence.
Raising the Poppy Flag 2007 In this section you will be able to access photo albums of Remembrance Day over the past few years, as well as the winners of the Poster & Literary contest. We wish to gratefully thank everyone who have attended or taken part in Remembrance Day Services with Branch 100 of The Royal Canadian Legion, and to those who have donated to the Poppy Fund through the sale of Wreaths and Poppies, and especially those businesses and individuals who help maintain our Perpetual Memory Honour Roll. 11 Nov. 2005 Photos 11 Nov. 2007 Photos In 2004 A Tradition Was Started, thanks to St. Paul Abilities Network and their Action Bus program. Legionaries and visiting members of Canada's Armed Forces are taken on a tour of three local cemeteries where we visit the graves of soldier's, sailors and airmen who are no longer with us, (except in spirit) it is most unfortunate that the list of graves is getting longer with each passing year. in 2006 we had a very special thing happen, it may not seem special to most, but it brought a tear to many, and a cheer to all at our General Meeting. It seems that one of the winners of our Poster & Literary contest 10 year old Cheyenne Lawrence wished to make a donation, and asked her teacher if she would be able to donate her prize money back to the Legion. Her teacher who just happens to be a Legion Member (Comrade Janelle Richard) assured her that it would be all right to do that, (she says that it was hard to hold back her emotion at the time). Cheyenne we Thank You very much. Lest We Forget Lest We Forget
